How to make salt dough decorations like these.

It’s far easier then you could ever imagine, here in the latest installment of the video advent calendar I show you how to make salt dough. All you need is plain flour, salt, (ordinary table salt) and water.

  • 1 cup of plain flour
  • 1/2 a cup of salt
  • 1/2 cup water (added slowly, more or less as necessary)

Optional

  • Biscuit cutters
  • Rolling pin
  • Extra flour for dusting the surface and pin
  • Bright paint
  • Gems
  • Glue
  • Sequins
  • Glitter
  • Pencil or straw for making holes
  • Thread for hanging

Once  mixed and kneaded you can turn it in to tree decorations by rolling it out and cutting with biscuit cutters. Make sure you make a hole at the top for hanging, either with a pencil or straw.

Then let it dry, either by air, (might take a day or two), or by baking in a very low oven (120 degrees ish) for 2 – 3 hours.

Store in an airtight tin or box, the decorations in the vid I made about 8 years ago, as long as they don’t get damp, they should last and last!
