Half term events in Gloucestershire Feb 2017

Overlooking the Gloucestershire Waterways Museum. The canal was totally frozen!

It can all be a bit rubbish in February can’t it? Post Christmas blues in full force, not the best weather, so I’ve compiled a list of half term events in Gloucestershire and days out happening over the holidays to ensure that you and your children have a wonderful break and make the most of their time off school. (Click the purple text to take you to each places website.)

Wilson GalleryMuseum Explorers – Details taken from the website:
15 and 16 February, 12 and 19 April 2017  | 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30 – 3.30pm  |   £2 per child
Want to be an Explorer? These kids friendly events will completely immerse your little explorer in the museum collection. They will hunt for artifacts and explore the mysterious stories behind them in these hands on sessions.

Cheltenham Town Hall – There is a brilliant sounding family fun day with crafts and circus skills on Wednesday 15th February and Treasure Island is on Friday the 17th Feb with Cbeebies stars! Find details here. – Cheltenham

All Things WildWild Explorers Holiday Club – £25 per day – Honeybourne

Westonbirt ArboretumBark event – 14,15,16 Feb – 11.00 – 3.30 – free after admission – Tetbury

Chedworth Roman Villa – Special crafts on top of usual family activities – Yanworth, Nr Cheltenham

Far Peak – also climbing – lots of activities for children – see here – Northleach

Crickley Hill – 2 events –

Valentines Scavenger Trail – £2 questions usually collected from the cafe. Small prize at the end.

Conservation day13 – 19yrs – 10am – 3pm  – Free but needs booking – Birdlip

Corinium Museum – Absolutely loads going on, including a family film night, downloadable brochureCirencester

Museum of Gloucesterlots of family events usually, not updated to include half term yet though – Gloucester

Where to visit – no known special events, but still fun days out. Check events section of websites in case things are added.

Cotswold Farm Park – Reopening 11th Feb – Kineton

Gloucester Waterways Museum – closed Mondays – Gloucester Docks

Cotswold Wildlife Park  – (Some areas closed due to avian influenza outbreak, check website for more details.) – Burford (Technically Oxfordshire but not too far!)

Prinknash Abbey Bird Park – Not showing any particular half term events but seem to have daily feeding events, check website for details – Cranham, Gloucester

Cotswold Water Park – Not showing any special events on their website, the beach is always a hit with our two though! – South Cerney


There are loads of parks around to enjoy too, hopefully there will be a few nice outdoorsy weather days in there!

    Ooh there’s so much going on in Gloucestershire! Thank you for linking to my post too, I’ll update to link to yours tomorrow but I’m currently trying to type with a dog on my lap so don’t think it’s the greatest time. Do remind me tomorrow! I’m going to check out cattle country too, I’d heard of it but didn’t know it was Gloucestershire.
