Why you should see Beauty and the Beast!

Beauty and the Beast was my absolute favourite when I was a child. So much so that I even wore out the vhs, (google it youngsters!), I watched it that many times. My friend and I took our six year old girls this morning and I was worried it wouldn’t live up to my cherished memory of watching it over and over as a child.

The amazing Beauty and the Beast

I was worried for nothing. The new Beauty and the Beast film is stunning. We all sat captivated the entire way through, the visuals are absolutely beautiful and the whole film has been done so well, keeping very close to the original story and any of the minor alterations fitting in seamlessly and only adding to the magic.

With a very strong largely British cast, (some of whom were a surprise for me at the end!), the acting is fabulous and even though many were cgi creations for most of the film, they were wholeheartedly believable and I fully invested in every single character.

In fact, I was so into that at one point that my daughter, who was sitting on my knee, turned round because she noticed me crying! She ended up comforting me! 😀

There were some tense parts but nothing that my daughter, (or me! 😀 ) couldn’t handle and I’m so happy that I took her and that she got to experience the heart soaring happiness that the Beauty and the Beast cartoon film gave me as a child.

The part that always let it down for me at the end was that I never thought the beast wasn’t as handsome as a human, (tell me I’m not alone here!), but luckily that isn’t the case anymore!

Oh, and the gay thing, if you are even considering not going because of the fact that there is a gay character in the film;

1) Have a word with yourself!

and

2) It is barely even implied, very humorously done and turns LeFou from a seriously dislikable villain into a fun character who provides a lot of the comedic element of the film.

If you are wondering whether to go or not for whatever reason, I say stop thinking about it and go! This film is Disney magic at it’s absolute finest and I left the cinema on an enormous high, so much so that my friend and I are already planning to go back…..without the kids!

    Ooh I’m so glad you loved it! I have been wondering whether to take my two or whether it would be too scary for my almost 3 year old. I certainly want to see it, I might give it a go and see how they get on.
