Booking is easiest to do online where you can pick your dates and see the prices as you go along, this is best if you are booking for multiple people or adding on children and dogs etc.

The farm has very clear signs when you arrive which make it easy to get to where you need to be and to park up.

The Different Types Of Accommodation At Cotswold Farm Park

There are a number of different ways you can enjoy a stay at the Cotswold Farm Park. Depending on how you like to get away and enjoy the countryside there is something for everyone.

These are the different types of accommodation styles at Cotwold Farm Park;

• Lodges
• Glamping
• Pods
• Pitches – Grass pitches for tents and hard standing pitches for caravans or motorhomes.

The pods are little wooden huts which come with beds, a small table and bean bags, perfect for those who love camping but just don’t want to fight with a tent. They are very basix, come with electric and lighting but the rest is down to you, just like a camping trip but without the tent.

The Glmaping tents are Moroccan themed and have everything you need for a luxurious camping weekend away but with an added level of luxury. Each comes fitted with a bed, bunkbeds, table and chairs along with a fridge, kettle, gas BBQ, cutlery, crockery and washing up bowl.

Pitches are to be what you would expect from a standard camping experience where you can get access to bathroom and washing facilites, water pumps, electric hook ups and water waste for motorhomes.

Sunset Lodges at the Cotswold Farm Park

We have just enjoyed a complimentary stay in the brand new luxury Sunset Lodges at The Cotswold Farm Park, the legendary home of Adam Henson to give them a good road-test.

As locals, (The Cotswold Farm Park is just a 25 minute drive from Cheltenham) we have been coming here for years, since my two were tiny tots. It has been a delight to watch it grow and develop into what it is today. We have been here in the snow, at Christmas to visit Santa and this time, in extreme heat! We have never stayed before, but over the years, camping has been added, pods and glamping tents and now these brand new luxury lodges.

First Impressions of the Sunset Lodges at The Cotswold Farm Park

On arrival, we were welcomed and checked in in the large safari tent welcome desk and then directed to the end of the campsite where there was private parking just for the lodges. The first thing that struck me was the appearance, wood and corrugated metal sheeting makes them look delightfully rustic and in keeping with the surroundings but the interior is anything but rustic!

Bold bright coloured walls in the bedroom, comfortable brown leather sofas and a modern kitchen area with oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and all the crockery and kitchen utensils you might need. There is a bathroom with large bath and rainfall shower over, as well as a separate shower head, also provided is a hairdryer and all bedding and towels.

Dog- Friendly lodges

The other brilliant thing about the lodges at the Cotswold Farm Park is that they have some that are dog friendly, finding dog friendly holidays in the UK is such a bonus, especially ones with so many luxuries! Hendrix even got his own welcome pack with a bed, blanket, towel, bowl and the all important poo bags.

He was delighted! There was also a long line lead and a sturdy ring to attach it to on the porch. We found that it was a bit warm to leave him for long as it was ridiculously hot when we stayed but the benefit was we could pop back and check on him as much as we liked during the day as we could come and go from the Farm Park as often as we liked.

Outside area at the Lodges

Outside is lovely, there is a large decking area with a bench running alongside, a picnic table and benches, a bbq and a large private lawn. There are also benches outside the bedroom windows of the lodge to sit and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding fields with a morning coffee.

We were especially excited to see Strawberry the cow out for a graze in the morning and there are bird feeders hung right outside the kitchen and bedroom with flocks of starlings, finches and a whole host of other small birds coming each day as they were regularly topped up. Spotting the juvenile great spotted woodpecker in the photo below was exciting!

Prices For A Stay At Cotswold Farm Park

Prices for the lodges start at £180 per night and sleep up to six in two rooms. Cotswold Farm Park entry is included for the days you are staying and also the day of your arrival and departure too.

For 3 adults and 2 children over the age of 4 this would have cost us £74 per day so it is great to have it included. If planning a stay, you might find our packing list for a self-catering holiday useful.

The Glamping tents start at £65 per night which is for 2 adults and 2 children and includes admission to the Farm Park.

The pods are slightly cheaper as they are much more basic and are meant to be more like camping and they start at £50 per night and sleep up to 4 people.

The pitches are much cheaper but that is generally as you bring most of the stuff with you and you require less facilites. Pitches start at £15 per night and that includes your pitch, use of the facilites, access to the park. It also include one vehicle and 2 adults.

Things To Do During Your Stay at Cotswold Farm Park

All of the six lodges at the Cotswold Farm Park are named after one of the rare breeds that Adam and his father have spent their lives devoted to saving from extinction.

The story of the North Ronaldsay sheep our lodge is named after is at the front and all the art work around the lodge features the breed and was creating specifically for the lodges by the very talented Alexandra Woods.

The Farm Park

With each booking to stay at the Cotswold Farm Park comes free Farm Park Entry which is great as this is one of the biggest attractions within the area and of course children love seeing the animals.

Have a day seeing the animals and learning more about the breeds of animals and see them sleep and play. You can also explore more of the areas such as the discovery barn which has small animals such as rabbits you can hold and play with.

There is an adventure barn for those who like to climb and have big adventures no matter the age. At the adventure barn, you can find large sandpits and a traversing wall along with plenty of ride-on toys to play on. This is a great place for children to play safely and for parents to have a 5-minute rest.

Seeing all the animals and the passion that Adam has for saving them is one of the things that makes the Cotswold Farm Park so famous.

Trails

We were very excited to discover the wildlife walk which led away from the hustle and bustle of the campsite through the most beautiful wildflower meadow and into a small wooded area complete with the all-important stick dens, spotting the wide variety of sheep along the way!

The walk had a short loop and a longer one, we did the shorter loop as our tummies were telling us that it was breakfast time.

Fun Rides

Something else you can find to do at the farm has an adventure on horseback. You can sign up to a ride out around the farm with jumps and a 10-mile ride. This requires you to bring your own horse but looks so fun and perfect for those who are local and looking to try out a new route.

Vist the Sunflower field at The Cotswold Farm Park

We were also very excited about the Sunflower Field! Last year we visited for the live action panto in the maize maze which was brilliant but obviously that was off the cards this year and so they tried to think of something they could do instead and the beautiful sunflower field was planted!

It’s one way with a lovely walk through the blooms and also dog friendly too. Great for Instagram photos! Lodges at the Cotswold Farm Park come with tickets that include entry. Farm Park day tickets also include entry and you can just visit the field on its own with tickets costing £5 per adult and £3 per child and you can buy stems to take home. It really is quite a sight!!

Eating and Drinking

The lodges at the Cotswold Farm Park have everything you’d need for a UK self catering break but we also had breakfast and dinner included in our experience, which we got from the Ox Shed, the shiny new restaurant and bar that was part of the fairly recent refurbishment.

Due to the current climate, tables inside were limited and needed pre-booking but there was plenty of outdoor seating available with takeaway meals in cartons and we also got a takeaway to eat back at the lodge. (Special mention to Caroline who was so lovely, friendly and smiley despite the extreme heat.)

There are also two places inside The Cotswold Farm Park to get food, drinks, snacks, coffees, cakes and ice creams. You can also buy milk, eggs, meat etc in the shop.

If you are visiting for the day or even during your stay there is also Dolly’s Snack Bar where you can find ice creams, light snacks and cakes and can be found at Bouncy Pillow play area.

Also you can find hot and cold foods from sandwiches, sausage rolls and other pastries and childrens lunch boxes. This is great place to stop to fill up on savoury goodies for your trip.

The benefits of staying at The Cotswold Farm Park

The Farm Park itself is always enjoyable and we really enjoyed the fact that we could come and go as we pleased, meaning we could return to the lodge for lunch and to take regular breaks from the heat as it was very intense and there isn’t much shade at the Cotswold Farm Park as indoor areas are very strictly managed and several of them were closed.

Final thoughts about the lodges at The Cotswold Farm Park

We have really enjoyed our stay in the lodges at The Cotswold Farm Park and it’s been a gorgeous relaxed way to enjoy the stunning surroundings of the farm and learn more about the wonderful animals and conservation work.

It’s a lovely part of the UK and the lodges are just perfect for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Hearing the donkeys in the morning was a real treat for me, I really want one! 😀
