I am actually only in my early 30s, however, I feel I have way more in common with an 80 year old Nana, and I’m not even ashamed!! I may give off the impression that I’m a little bit cool, (I’m picturing my daughter reading this at 17 and cringing at that, mwahahahaha!), I take my family to festivals, have pink hair and tattoos and wear batman logo t-shirts but if you want to know the real truth about how rock and roll  I really am, just read on!! (This just popped into my head when I mentioned Batman in the context of Nanas, makes me laugh every time I see it!)

  1. I think purple rinses are a brilliant idea. (Except I’d have pink of course!)
  2. I like to be in bed by 10pm. I mean actually like, as in enjoy. Bed is bliss!
  3. Pajamas are the best invention in the world. I am in them as soon as I get home and I know I’m not going back out again. (Well, pj bottoms anyway, I’m not that bad. The habit has now spread to my children too. Except they go full pajama!)
  4. I’ve recently got into crochet. I know that’s cool now so I’ll just reassure you that I liked knitting before it was a thing. (I’m just slow, I have a scarf I’ve been working on for around 10 years. Literally. It’s longer the Dr Whos’ now.)
  5. I like my cakes traditional. I’ll take victoria sponge or coffee and walnut over cardamom and bacon. (I may have made that last one up!)
  6. I don’t like gruesome, gory, unpleasant tv stuff. Well, I’ll watch certain things like that, (Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones, I’m looking at you!), but I’d much rather a nice cuppa in front of Midsomer Murders. (John Nettles episodes though please.)
  7. Which brings me neatly on to tea. Ahhhh tea. I can usually be heard saying either; ‘Shall we have a nice cup of tea?’, ‘Would you like tea?’, ‘Tea?’, It’s definitely your turn to make the tea.’
  8. I genuinely like teapots. I don’t use one often but I can totally see myself with a teapot collection in the future.
  9. I also think tea cosies are a genius idea. Beanie hats for teapots, what’s not to love?!
  10. I love garden centres. There is something so amazing about them, the gifts, the mugs, (did I mention I have a thing for mugs too?!), beautiful flowers and best of all? Cafes with traditional cakes, and usually tea in bone china! (This is something that my husband thinks I’m extra Nana-ish for. He just doesn’t get it, luckily, most of my super cool friends feel the same!)

How about you lovely readers, are you like me and stepping happily into Nana-dom a few decades early or are you sitting recovering from a wild party weekend, or even worse, reading this on Monday because you were still partying tonight*?? 😉

*This is actually not totally worse, I am kind of jealous, although I’ll feel so much better for my night of tea and slippers at 6am tomorrow! 😀

See, Nana-dom has taken me early!

See, Nana -dom has taken me early, I made this all by myself!
