Emma and I were invited along to experience the newly refurbished swimming pool and spa at De Vere Tortworth Court and to have afternoon tea after. De Vere Tortworth Court itself is a seriously breathtaking Victorian mansion hotel and arboretum and the venue for our next Maven Connex blogger event because we love it so much there. Location
Within easy reach of Cheltenham and Bristol, Tortworth Court is just off the M5 in beautiful countryside with plenty of parking and the building itself is just breathtaking. Set in an arboretum there are lots of places to go for a walk and the gardens are beautifully kept and full of colour.
On arrival we were shown into an elegant room with tables set up with a relaxation area curtained off and drinks to help yourself to, various teas, coffee and a selection of juices and water.
Spa Experience
The spa itself is just gorgeous with amazing decor and we sat and filled in forms before being taken through to comfortable rooms where I was given the most incredible back and neck massage. Perfect pressure for me. After the massage, I was given time to get dressed again and then provided with some water and showed back to the room with the relaxation area. We had a swim before and after and also used the sauna.
The pool itself is nice, nothing very fancy but with a lovely hot tub and a spacious clean changing area with good hot showers, shampoo and conditioner provided and a lovely big mirror with hairdryers and straighteners to us.
There is also use of the gym available for guests which we decided not to use this time but well worth noting if you want to still get in a work out while you are away.
Our Afternoon Tea Experience
After we had showered and dressed we headed back to the beautiful restaurant and were served a delicious afternoon tea with a choice of sandwiches and savouries (vegetarian options for me) and then both raisin and plain scones with plenty of jam and thick clotted cream and so many delicious cakes!
There are 3 places in which you can enjoy afternoon tea starting with the stunning 1853 Restuarant & Bar, the Old Library or during the more pleasant times of the year, you can enjoy afternoon tea on the terrace. There are of course a number of other meals you can find that are excellent and well worth visiting for the dining options alone.
We had a thoroughly wonderful day and I can’t wait to take my mum back for afternoon tea one day. It makes a perfect day out together, gift for a loved one or to give yourself a well earned break. What I think is really great is that you can visit for the day, spend a night or stay for a long weekend.
It was such a lovely treat for us both and we left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after the school holidays. And also very full!
Things To Do At De Vere Tortworth Court Spa
Other than having a luxuirous stay at the hotel, spending your days lounging in the spa or using the great gym equipment there are actually a number of other things to do and see while on your trip to De Vere Tortworth Court.

Within the 30 acre estate, you can find paths to follow, nooks and walkways to explore at your leisure. You can also find the magnificent centrepiece which is the original Victorian Arboretum which is home to over 300 plants and trees specimens.

Berkeley Castle

Stately homes often have beautiful architecture and stunning surroundings which are calming and can be very romantic. If you are heading for a romantic weekend away this is a great place to stop by and explore.
Cotswold Way
If you like walking or exploring the countryside this is a perfect way to blow off the cobwebs and get some exercise. The walk has amazing views and is a stunning place to explore.
This can be great for the start of your spa trip or even the end before you head home. What would work really well would be to going to a great long walk and then arrive at the spa to relax for the weekend and enjoy a fully immersive luxurious experience.
6 O’clock Gin Distillery
If there is anything that is a perfect addition to a luxurious weekend away is a visit to a distillery and gin makes a perfect drink no matter the time of the day.
This can be a great addition to your stay at De Vere Tortworth Court Spa and a great way to expand your weekend and having a little detour before heading straight home. Even better as you can pick up a small gift for yourself to remind you of your visit to enjoy at home.

Woodchester Park is a National Trust park which is stunningly beautiful to visit with a number of walks and things to do to explore the great outdoors.
