When I was invited to the Stuart Holmes hair salon in Cheltenham to have my hair done, I was very excited as they said I could have crazy colour done and you all know how I feel about having my hair brightly coloured!!
The salon itself is different to any other I’ve been too. Set in a gorgeous location overlooking the iconic town hall, it’s a converted town house and it’s been so beautifully done. Decorated for Christmas, I was greeted by a giant disco ball above the front door, an excellent start!
The whole salon is large, airy and exquisitely decorated, the staff on the reception are very friendly and efficient and I was soon sitting on a comfy sofa drinking tea while I waited for my appointment. There was also an enormous fishbowl of sweeties that you could help yourself to.
Upstairs is the main salon area and it is very busy with around 10 stylists all working around the room but spacious enough that it doesn’t feel crowded and bright with enormous windows flooding the room with natural light. It had calmed down a lot by the time I got downstairs after having my bright colours done so I think it may have been a Black Friday thing! Upstairs again are the sinks with smooth reclining chairs and foot stools to really aid the relaxation aspect of getting your hair done, the head massage was bliss!
My lovely stylist Tash talked through all my colour options and we discussed styles. I was given an iPad to have a scroll through the internet and choose some styles for inspiration and felt very confident putting my trust in Tash to give me something that suited me. Wanting a change without cutting my hair short I started to lean towards a fringe! I’ve had one before and they drive me a bit crazy when they get too long but Stuart Holmes offer free fringe trims so whenever I’m in town, I can pop in and get it tidied up. As it happened, I chickened out in the end when I remembered how I love a fringe for all of a day until it starts sticking up at funny angles and annoying me!
I was offered complimentary drinks throughout my time at the salon and really looked after well. So nice to be treated like royalty when you spend most of your time looking after others. There are plenty of magazines available to keep you entertained and also phone chargers and reading glasses. You can even take your dog in if they are calm in busy environments. What a lovely place!!
I’d never been to the Stuart Holmes salon before and I can honestly say that I will be saving up my pounds to go back because it was such a lovely experience and I left feeling like a very glamorous version of Me and not the slightly drab and faded Mum that went in! Plus it got a big thumbs up from both my kids and my husband!
