We were invited along to experience the incredible Sundown Spectacular at Warwick Castle this bank holiday weekend and it was a really fantastic evening, really something special for both adults and kids alike! The event is running until Monday 30th August 2021 with tickets still available, but don’t worry if you can’t get there this time, hopefully there will be many more in the future and they have some many amazing events through the year that a visit at any time is special! Warwick Castle lit up pink and blue for an event.

The concept is a sort of festival vibe, crossed with a light show and food festival and it worked out so well! To be honest, I could probably just sit and watch the castle lit up for an evening and be happy as it’s such a beautiful building!!

Outdoor seating surrounds the castle for the sundown spectacular event

The outside of the castle was set out with trestle tables and strung with beautiful lights, it really did look so pretty, especially as we just caught the sunset as we arrived. There were many different food options including full meals, snacks and sweet treats. We paid £9 for some ‘Dutty Fries’ from the Caribbean food stall and £3.50 a portion of plain fries for the children. The food stalls don’t sell any drinks so might be an idea to ‘divide and conquer’ if you go there with someone else so you don’t have to queue twice.

The light show was incredible at Warwick Castle

It got even more special at night though, with the light effects coming into their own in the dark. Such a sensory delight. There was also an amazing band playing hits to get you dancing, illusionists, stilt walkers, fire breathers and so much more! Then it was time for the DJ to kick it up a gear and soon everyone who hadn’t already been jumping to the band was up on their feet dancing!

Fireworks explode from the tower at the Sundown Spectacular

The night ended with some spectacular fireworks set to music, it was absolutely breathtaking. The children’s faces were a real pleasure to watch as they gazed open mouthed in awe. It was a very late night as the event doesn’t finish until 10.30pm and then there was the walk back to the car (thankfully downhill) and a little bit of a queue to get out but it was totally worth it for such a great experience!

Warwick Castle pulled out all the stops for a great Sundown Spectacular event with light shows and fireworks

A couple of things to bear in mind are that the queues for the food were very long when we arrived at 8pm, (we waited 50 minutes for our meal) and the car park is long walk, around 15 mins from the field we were in. Also note that you can’t take any food or drink in, so head straight to the shop in the central courtyard or one of the bars to get some before your kids get thirsty!!
