I recently wrote about our home education decision for our daughter and so I thought I would do a little update of what we have been up to over the last 10 days. I’m still not sure whether it’s home education or home schooling, or even quite what the difference is! Time is short so a whole bunch of captioned photos for you and a mini update at the bottom!

Forest school and some whittling of a whistle!

Fire starting with flint at Forest School.

Another session at Forest School, making a bow from a length of hazel.

We found a tiny spider and studied it carefully before letting it go free.

We took our work books to a local cafe and visited the charity book shop at the same time to get more lovely reference and fiction books.

We took a trip to the library and got some more books out!

The finished bow! Next week, arrows!

Finding out the best way to start a fire!

Getting some exercise at our local outdoor pool. And enjoying some lunch too!

So how is it going? Overall, it’s going really really well. She’s so so so much happier and life in our house is far calmer. Of course she’s had a few wobbles and misses some aspects of school and her beloved teachers but generally things are so much better and we’re having a lot of fun discovering all the fun things to do in the area together.

We’re both making new friends and having a lovely time spending time with each other as well.
