We have been making lots of eco swaps lately. Over the last few months I’ve been working with SaveMoneyCutCarbon to test out their membership club. Signing up and paying a monthly membership means that you get exclusive low prices across an enormous range of eco friendly products. They have been sending us a variety to try out and this month is especially exciting as you can now earn Planet Points on purchases from their website and double Planet Points for Club members! So 1 point for every £1 spent and 2 per £1 for club members. These can then be used across the website, you can use them to part pay or save them up for a bigger order. You can’t use them for postage but as it’s free over £40 and I generally do one big order to cut down on delivery emissions, it works perfectly. This month we were given the brand new Planet Points so we could choose some of our favourite products from across the site and it is also a good chance for them to see which ones we really rated. These are some of the things that I will be making an eco swap to permanently;
Make up remover wipes.
These ones are bamboo and super soft. I use them every day and then just chuck into the wash to reuse next time!
Cotton buds. Plastic free eco swaps.
I’m not obsessed with make up (honest!) but there isn’t anything that gives me enough control to get my winged liner even and so having an option like these that are not going to harm the planet and get stuck in turtles noses in a real relief. See more of the bathroom eco swaps we made here.
Biodegradable antiseptic wipes.
These are so handy to keep in my bag, biodegradable and compostable with a natural antibac agents. So great for sticky fingers and perfect for cleaning hands before eating without getting the horrible taste you get from a lot of hand sanitisers as there isn’t always a sink available for washing hands. One of my favourite eco swaps!
Dog poo bags. Eco Swaps for your pet!
Not very glam but something we use a LOT and so it’s nice to have ones that are biodegradable but also strong like these from Beco.
Kitchen cloths.
These from ecoLiving can be washed and reused over and over and once you’re done they are compostable! I like having a cloth for wiping down surfaces etc but there are so many that have plastic in. I wrote up more greener cleaning eco swaps in this post.
Pot scrubbers.
As above, I like having these are they are an essential part of washing up but the scrubby sponges are awful and have so much plastic in. These bamboo ones from EcoCoconut are natural and planet friendly.
Beeswax Wraps.
The BeeZero ones we were sent have been brilliant for packed lunches, covering bowls in the fridge and generally most things that you would usually turn to cling film for. Just remember not to wash them in hot hot water as the wax melts away!
Plasters.
I seem to have very accident prone kids, probably because we are outdoors a lot and so the Patch compostable bamboo plasters make me feel a lot better about all the scratches and scrapes I have to treat!
Lightbulbs, whole home eco swaps.
I have a lovely one in my desk lamp that has different levels of brightness depending on how many times you switch it on and off. There is also a huge variety of different shapes, sizes and fittings under the light bulb section of the site so you can make the whole house more eco friendly.
So these were a few of our favourite eco swaps that we will be making permanent.
